no ‘rocker’ footplate, so in ENV Mode the rocker automation responds to input level.
In LFO Mode the rocker motion is fully automated. Auto Wah’s editable parameters

Pitch Shifter

Pitch Shifter generates chromatic harmonies with the ability to fine tune. This

enables you to pitch up or down to produce octaves or 3rd, 4th or 5th harmonies.

Pitch Shifter can also produce more discordant, quirkier sounds. Pitch Shifter’s

16. AMP
AMP is short for preamp. MST modelling faithfully recreates classic and modern Marshall
valve tones as well as other famous valve amp tones. Each AMP model creates an authentic
preamp setting. The MST preamp models are classified into three groups: Clean, Crunch &
Overdrive.
Your CODE amplifier’s MST preamp models are:

and resonant metallic whooshes. Flanger’s editable parameters are:

5. MIDDLE
Adjusting the MIDDLE control will vary the

Get ready to experience the distinct tonal nuances of some of the most celebrated American, British and European guitar amps. Choose from 16 amazing amp models—from a classic rockabilly sound inspired by the bite of a pint-sized Gretsch® 6156, to the beautiful high-end shimmer inspired by a Marshall® JCM-900, to a killer crunch inspired by an Orange® AD30. And that’s just the beginning.*

CLEAN RED

Inspired by* the tone of a Marshall® JCM-900, Clean Red is scooped and highly responsive to the player’s touch, Clean Red has a beautiful high-end shimmer for one of the best feeling clean tones we’ve ever made.

CLEAN GREEN

Inspired by* some aspects of a Hiwatt® Custom 100, Clean Green emulates the classic clean tones of the late 60s/early 70s. This model is full-bodied with a creamy mid-range and a tight low-end.

TWANG RED

Twang Red is inspired by* the sound of a 60s Fender® Blackface Twin Reverb® to produce a classic Nashville spank. Crank the Drive knob for some extra grit and growl!

TWANG GREEN

More aggressive than Twang Red, Twang Green has plenty of cut, punch and attitude inspired by* a 60s Fender® Blackface Deluxe Reverb®.

CLASS A RED

Brilliant, singing tones with an addictive chime made famous by generations of Brit-rockers, Class A Red is inspired by* a Vox® AC30 Top Boost.

CLASS A GREEN

Terrifically dynamic, Class A Green offers boutique-style feel inspired by* some of our favorite amps including the Divided by 13 9/15. Sweet tones on the edge of breaking up give way to seriously throaty Overdrive when the Drive knob is cranked.

BLUES RED

The vintage charm of Blues Red is inspired by* the classic tones of a ‘50s wide panel Fender® Deluxe Reverb®.

BLUES GREEN

Voiced with more attitude than Blues Red, Blues Green delivers a more forward mid-range for a classic rockabilly sound inspired by* the bite of a pint-sized Gretsch® 6156.

CRUNCH RED

A celebration of the tone used by numerous early metal bands, Crunch Red was inspired by* the signature crunch of a ‘68 Marshall® Plexi 50-Watt.

CRUNCH GREEN

Crunch Green provides a rounded off British-style distortion with a cool mid-honk and great cut. Inspired by* the killer crunch of an Orange® AD30.

HI GAIN RED

Hi Gain Red is inspired by* the infamous brown sound of a ‘68 Marshall® Plexi 100-Watt with a Variac and jumped input channels.

HI GAIN GREEN

A modern, scooped metal sound, Hi Gain Green is a refined distortion inspired by* the high-gain mayhem of a Diezel® Herbert.

METAL RED

A one-way ticket to tight and punchy high-gain heaven, Metal Red is inspired by* the high-gain tone of a Mesa/Boogie® Dual Rectifier®.

METAL GREEN

Metal Green delivers high-gain aggression with supreme versatility. Sweep the Mid knob to control the character of the distortion. (Set to minimum for fuzz pedal characteristics; set to noon for creamy, modern high-gain tones; set to max to conjure the Class A sound.)

INSANE RED

Dialed in for shredding, Insane Red combines the intensity and impact of Metal Red but it delivers more mid-range teeth for that bone-crushing grind. Inspired by* the tone of a Mesa/Boogie® Dual Rectifier® (red channel).

INSANE GREEN

As much input gain distortion as possible short of a complete meltdown! Insane Green delivers an obscene helping of distortion while still retaining tonal definition and character.

NEVER FORGET WHEN YOU HAVE A BRILLIANT CREATIVE MOMENT

A STUDIO QUALITY RECORDER / PREAMP FOR THE PRICE OF AN OUTSTANDING CABLE.

The cable’s built-in, super-compact recorder (designed by TASCAM, the undisputed leader in portable recording) saves up to 13 hours of your playing to commonly available, inexpensive Micro SD cards. And with CD-quality 44.1kHz/16-bit resolution, the audio quality is ideal for transferring over to computer-based, multitrack recording programs.

MEMORY CABLE™APPLICATIONSTHE WHEN, AND WHERE OF USING THE MEMORY CABLE

SONGWRITING
Memory Cable™ doesn’t have to be plugged into an amp—just plug into a guitar, bass, or keyboard, and start recording.

IT'S A CABLE
Memory Cable uses premium cable for pristine sound, and doesn’t even need power to work as a conventional cable.

RECORD REHEARSALS
Plug into the output of your PA mixer to record your rehearsals.

COMPUTER RECORDING “INSURANCE.”
Patch your guitar to a computer’s audio interface through the Memory Cable™—if you forget to record-enable a track, think an earlier take was better, or the computer crashes, your performance will still be safely tucked away in the Memory Cable™.

PRACTICING
Record your playing for later analysis.

EASY “RE-AMPING.”
Compared to standard re-amping solutions that often involve multiple cables, boxes, and signal splitting, the Memory Cable approach is simple and effective.

A SMART CABLEPOWERED BY TASCAM NEVER LOSE A CREATIVE MOMENT AGAIN.

with the inspiration insurance that only Memory Cable™ can provide.
IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME You’re playing guitar, and come up with an amazing song idea. Then it’s gone. And you can’t get it back. But Memory Cable™—a premium-quality instrument cable for guitar or keyboards—can capture your inspiration so you’ll never lose a brilliant creative moment again.

Inspiration is volatile. Remember those songs you lost when you couldn’t record an idea in time, the great riff that came and went, or the computer crash that trashed a fantastic solo?

The Memory Cable™ would have remembered—it’s your personal backup service that runs constantly in the background. This premium, 16-foot cable has a built-in, solid-state recorder designed by TASCAM’s engineers. Plug the cable into your guitar, press a button, and the cable records everything you play. It’s that simple.

If you play something you really like, press a button to close the existing file and start recording a new one. That way you’ll always know your best inspirations are at the file’s end.

Total recording time is over 13 continuous hours with the included 4GB microSD card, but a second mode can record only while you’re playing. The uncompressed, WAV-format files feature 44.1kHz, 16-bit resolution; thanks to the studio-quality A/D converters, if you record a “keeper” you can bring the file into any recording software, then build the song from there.

Although the Memory Cable™ doesn’t play back by itself, transferring files to a computer is easy. Most card readers can read a microSD card, and the Memory Cable™ includes a microSD-to-SD adapter (most computers have SD card slots). Many smartphones can also read a microSD card, as well as transfer the card data over USB.

Battery life is 8 hours from a rechargeable or standard AA battery, but there’s also a small battery that, while not necessary for operation, lasts for a year and powers an internal clock to time-stamp your files.

What’s best about the Memory Cable™ is that you’ll always have it at your fingertips—you need to use a cable anyway. You don’t have to grab a box, find another patch cable, hook it up, and navigate an operating system—plug in, turn on, done. The Memory Cable™ also works with keyboards, bass, electronic drums—even a mixer bus output to record a rehearsal session. And it’s ideal for re-amping, which we’ll cover in a future article.

Most importantly, the first time you don’t lose some great inspiration you’ll truly appreciate the Memory Cable™’s “inspiration insurance.” I certainly do: my next YouTube video is built around a riff that the Memory Cable™ remembered when I was testing it!

Perception is a funny thing. If you’ve ever listened to your voice on a recording, or caught your reflection in a mirror and didn’t recognize yourself for a second, you know what I’m talking about.

Sometimes we have a way of perceiving things the way we want them to be, rather than the way they are. There are times when this can be a good thing: I know that if I feel like I’m looking sharp I’m probably going to leave the house feeling more confident than if I’m wearing my ‘everything else is in the wash’ outfit, even if I forget that my version of ‘Sunday best’ is ripped jeans and a Van Halen shirt (but it’s a really nice Van Halen shirt, right?).

But there are times when it can be a bad thing. Like if you’re around someone who’s had a few too many drinks and they’ve lost the ability to regulate their volume so they’re shouting at the top of their lungs when they think they’re speaking at a normal level.

Guitar playing is a lot like that. If you feel like you’re having a ‘Good Tone Day’ you’ll play more boldly and more confidently, like nothing you could play could possibly be wrong. But sometimes what we’re hearing in our head isn’t what we’re putting out there. Sometimes we may think we’re speaking in an authoritative Darth Vader voice when we really sound like Moe the bartender. And sometimes we may think we’re playing with all the rhythmic precision of a James Heftield when really we’re flailing about with the abandon of an [insert least-favorite guitar player here].

That’s why it’s so important to record your playing and listen back to it with a critical ear. This helps you to spotlight and refine all sorts of issues with your playing. And that’s what makes Gibson’s new Memory Cable™ so useful: in addition to being a premium cable, it’s an ideal tool for songwriters as well as those just wanting to refine their technique.

So with that in mind, here are some ways that the Memory Cable™ can improve not only your guitar playing but your entire musical expression.

Rhythm
When you’re in the zone it can be difficult to discern whether you’re playing at a steady tempo or not. We all have the tendency to speed up when we’re excited. Sometimes this can even add a sense of excitement and energy to a piece - if the whole band is doing it at the same time. But unrequested tempo adjustments can kill the vibe of any gig. When you remove yourself from the passion of performance and listen back to what you’ve just played, you can pinpoint any little issues with the way you’re handling the tempo and the even-ness of your attack.

Pitch
Here’s another one of those things that can escape you if you’re rocking out too hard: the tendency to either accidentally nudge a note out of tune by applying too much finger pressure during normal fretting, or to push it out of tune when attempting to bend a string. Again, sometimes an over-bent string can be a cool thing - there’s a particularly great one in Jimmy Page’s “Whole Lotta Love” solo - but in most cases a little reckless abandon is best employed as a deviation from the main program in the form of a cool little moment here or there, rather than playing an entire set of imprecise, over-reached notes. When you listen back to your playing it’s a lot easier to identify problem areas, particularly if you’re bending just one string of a particular chord slightly out of tune. Once you’ve identified the issue you can work on it until the ‘right’ way becomes habit.

Tone
Tone doesn’t necessarily mean just the settings on our amp. It can also refer to what your fingers are squeezing out of your guitar. Ever notice how some players are able to coax almost wah-wah-like sounds out of their guitars even when they’re not using a pedal? Steve Vai is a great example. There’s a certain technique you can use where you sort of push the string into the fret a little harder than usual to achieve a sharper tone. Fret very softly and you’ll get a softer, warmer tone. When you record your playing you’ll be able to more clearly zero in on these moments so you can develop more control over them.

Songwriting
Perhaps the greatest reason to record your playing is so you can capture those magical little moments that would otherwise be lost forever, be they melodies, licks, songwriting ideas or one-off impossible-to-replicate spontaneous flukes. And with the Memory Cable™’s Reamping ability you can come up with an idea while jamming, then transfer the file into your recording program to re-amp physically or digitally.

Wireless Guitars
The New Fretlight Wireless guitars are an amazing blend of traditional instrument craftsmanship and technology. Fretlight is the only guitar in the world with a built-in lighted learning system. The instruments have all the features you'd expect from a normal guitar such as 1/4" output jacks, pickup selections, two-way truss rods and incredibly straight necks. The learning system is there at the push of a button when you want it - or need it. And like all guitars you can customize pickups, put on your favorite strings and have it set up to your liking.

Play like a rock star with the new FG-651 Orianthi Limited Edition Fretlight Wireless Guitar. Designed by Ori herself, this guitar is one of a kind. Orianthi wanted to make a statement in both sound, design, and functionality.

The FG-651 Electric includes our patented wireless lighted learning system and allows a player to light-up songs, chords, scales and riffs right on the neck of the guitar. The Fretlight Wireless Ori Electric connects to a smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth BLE. A variety of apps are available on the App store and Google play which allow users to see chords and scales, purchase video lessons, see tablature, improvise over progressions and much more!

“My limited edition Fretlight is crazy cool! I wanted to create a guitar that was so different that players just don’t want to put it down. Fretlight worked with me to create my Orianthi Attitude pickups which are completely custom and speak to my tone. Playing this guitar reminds me of my playing roots and having it be a Fretlight too – wow – now that’s amazing.”

The Fretlight Wireless guitar utilizes Bluetooth BLE technology. Your mobile device must have Bluetooth BLE, commonly referred to as Bluetooth 4.0, to connect to a Fretlight Wireless guitar. Transmission range will vary, 10-15 feet is best, up to 50 feet is common.

Go here to check out all the apps that are available for the Fretlight Wireless guitar. The Fretlight Wireless guitar works with Apple (iOS 8.4+) and Android (OS 4.4+) devices with Bluetooth BLE (v4.0+).

Myth #1: The Fretlight is a teacher killer – it will put guitar teachers out of business.

False. Like any tool used for any job, there’s a proper way to use that tool and there are invaluable tips that only a human being can give you in order to get the most out of that tool. We have many teachers using Fretlight guitars in their lessons and they have said that their students learn to play guitar faster, seem more engaged, and are more apt to continue with lessons when using a Fretlight. Instead of the teacher focusing most of the lesson on placing the student’s fingers in the right place, the teacher can now focus on playing techniques, along with insights that come from many years of playing. Without a Fretlight, the student may not be ready to absorb that wisdom because they are too concerned with where to put their fingers.?

Myth #2: The Fretlight guitar just teaches you to stare at the fretboard.

False. Actually, the Fretlight guitar simply eliminates the tedious back and forth routine of standard guitar learning. The Fretlight has moved the chord book, scale chart or sheet music a couple of feet so that the information is now right under your fingers instead of sitting on a table in front of you, forcing the player to look away from their fretboard, and over at the chord book or scale chart. Imagine your computer keyboard without letters and numbers – but instead, those letters and numbers were on a piece of paper to the side of the computer. You would look back and forth from that sheet of paper trying to plunk away at a blank keyboard. The Fretlight guitar gives you the information you need to learn to play songs on guitar, right where you need it – on the neck of the instrument.?

Myth #3: The Fretlight guitar is cheating, the only way to really play guitar is by hard work and memorization.

False. The Fretlight guitar doesn’t play notes for you; it simply allows you to see a roadmap on the fretboard. Think for instance a GPS vs. a map book, a microwave oven vs. a regular oven, the computer vs. a typewriter. All of these devices were once thought of as “cheating” and are now accepted as technological breakthroughs, and the same applies for the Fretlight guitars. You still need to practice and memorize; however the Fretlight Guitar simply makes the journey more fun and rewarding.?

Myth #4: You won’t learn from the Fretlight guitar – it will be become a crutch.

False. The Fretlight guitar is no more a crutch than a pitching machine is to a baseball player. A pitching machine throws the ball at the same speed to the same location. You might think hitters would only then be able to hit only a ball at that speed and in that location, but really the hitter is working on their timing and hand-eye coordination to hit the balls in any location. The same holds true for the Fretlight guitar: it helps you see where to play, it is a tool that helps propel the learning process. It’s up to you to play those notes and develop your technique. This is one reason a guitar teacher is so valuable. Even so, being able to hear the correct notes of a scale or chord allows you to play it right the first time and train your ear – just like a baseball player trains their “eye.”?

Myth #5: There are no shortcuts to playing guitar. Your fingers have to bleed and the Fretlight guitar won’t help you get great.

False. The Fretlight will not only help you become a better player, it has helped the “greats” stay great! Carlos Santana, Kirk Hammett of Metallica, Edge of U2, Neal Schon of Journey, David Gilmour of Pink Floyd, and many others use a Fretlight to experiment with new scales and new chord fingerings. They don’t need to learn how to play, but where to play to create new sounds and new combinations. Once given the roadmap their creativity handles the rest and so will yours. Yes, you do have to practice to learn to play songs on guitar and to become a great guitar player but why not give yourself every tool you can in order to get there faster while having a lot more fun.?

Myth #6: You won’t ever learn to read music or tab

False. Guess what – You don’t have to! Most people who play guitar can’t read a lick of music – and actually, a lot of very well known, seasoned professionals can’t either! That’s because guitar is a different animal compared to other instruments. When you learn to play guitar, it is really all about patterns – fingering patterns. That’s why Fretlight is an amazing tool – seeing the pattern right on the neck allows you to learn to play songs on guitar much faster than other methods. ?

Myth #7: The Fretlight is not a real guitar – it’s a toy.

False. The whole goal of Fretlight, even from the earliest Fretlight guitars made in 1990, was that this amazing learning system had to be on a real guitar. If we put the light system on a toy you would see the patterns, then have to put the toy down and pick up your real guitar and attempt to play them. That’s no different than the current method of looking back and forth from a chart or book to learn to play guitar. By having the Fretlight system on a real guitar, you look down at the fretboard and not only see the lights but you put your fingers on the strings and start playing – learning is instantaneous. Every Fretlight electric guitar can be plugged into a standard amplifier and played just like a normal guitar. The Fretlight uses real strings, has a wood body and wood neck, and real frets and pickups.?

Myth #8: If you’re an advanced player you don’t need a Fretlight.

False. The Fretlight allows advanced players to audition new scales and chord patterns in order to create new solos and songs. Here’s an analogy: Imagine a seasoned driver being transported to a foreign country – they have driven cars for years but now they’re not going to know where to go. Give them a map and they can go anywhere. Advanced players don’t need to learn how to play – they need to know where to play to create new sounds. Fretlight is the only tool that can do that quickly and efficiently.?

Myth #9: You have to crane your neck and lean over to see the lights.

False. Whether you’re learning by looking back and forth from charts and books or from the Fretlight, you still have to look at the fretboard to see where to put your fingers. As you learn to play songs on guitar, take a moment to look at a rock guitar God poster – even those greats look down to see where they are.?

Myth #10: It only lights up beginner chords in one key.

False. The Fretlight lights up chords and scales in all twelve keys. We even have left-handed Fretlight guitars. Rest assured, Fretlight can light up anything from ‘Mary had a little lamb’ to the hardest Stevie Ray Vaughn solo, and everything in-between.?
