The Merle Travis guitar picking style is known today as thumb picking due to the dominant base line carried throughout the tune by the thumb. Mr. Travis used one finger adding the lead notes. Moon Mullins adds the second finger selecting lead harmony notes or ragtime licks, giving the second sound a new dimension.
