Charlie Byrd JAZZ GUITAR WORKSHOP presents a melodic way of learning essential scales and arpeggios (in all 12 keys) which are then applied to pieces. The pieces are arranged in a Jazz style and are suitable for performance as well as for study. Three of the pieces have a lead line, an arpeggio study, a chord scale study, and a four-chorus performance arrangement. The four-chorus arrangements follow a standard performance routine used in clubs and on stage. For variety, during the 3rd chorus the teacher or another instrument can take the lead. To develop ear playing, you can practice the scale and arpeggio studies daily, until you can play them in all keys fluently. Playing "pick style" and "finger style" are both advocated in this book. Da qualche anno, in estate per una settimana, se siete a Rimini potrete ascoltare gratuitamente il chitarrista RANDY  BERNSEN che suona nei locali estivi, Bernsen è stato il chitarrista di Pastorius e ha suonato con Zawinul, che a Rimini ha fatto il suo ultimo concerto. Mentre Jaco dalla spiaggia di Rimini ha scaraventato il suo basso nel mare Adriatico e la sera poi è caduto (lo ha spinto uno del suo gruppo per la contesa di una donna) dal terrazzo del primo piano dell'hotel Holiday inn, con gravi conseguenze.  

" Naked on a motorcycle Jaco was arrested at one point during the 1982 tour for riding around Tokyo naked on a motorcycle.  In 1983, while on a tour with the septet version of the Word of Mouth band, Jaco plunged 25 feet from a balcony in Rimini, Italy, resulting in a broken left wrist and three cracked ribs.
